Shavon School of Real Estate is approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission to offer the 75-hour Salesperson Pre-license, 60-hour Brokers X-Press Prelicense, 25-hour Post-license and continuing education courses.
The school approval code is 7620 and the renewal date is December 31, 2026.
Upon successfully completing either the 75-hour Salesperson or 60-hour Brokers course, students will earn 75 or 60 credit hours which satisfy all of the required hours needed in order to take the Georgia Pre-license Exam. To qualify for entrance into this course, a student must:
Be at least 18 years of age for Salesperson Prelicense or 21 years of age for Broker Prelicense
Be a high school graduate or hold a certificate of equivalency
Preliminary Decisions for Persons with Criminal Convictions or Sanctions
The Commission, by law, has the authority to deny a license to any otherwise qualified candidate who has a prior criminal conviction or a disciplinary sanction issued by an occupational licensing body. In order to prevent prospective licenses with convictions or sanctions from needlessly investing time and money in meeting the qualifications for licensure, the GREC has created a Preliminary Decision process. This procedure allows a prospective licensee to apply for a Preliminary Decision and ask the Commission to advise him or her whether the Commission would ultimately grant a license to the prospect, considering the prospect’s record. While neither positive nor negative Preliminary Decisions are binding on the GREC, once the prospect becomes a candidate for the issuance of a license, it is likely that the prospect who received a positive Preliminary Decision will be granted a license as long as all requirements for licensure are met and no additional convictions or sanctions occur.
An applicant for Preliminary Decision must provide the Commission with a certified copy of the criminal indictment and conviction or the disciplinary action by another licensing authority. The applicant may also provide any additional information the applicant believes will assist the Commission in making its decision. Processing the application involves a thorough investigation of the applicant’s background that can take an extended period of time. Prospective licenses seeking a Preliminary Decision will want to submit the “Background Clearance” application as soon as possible.
Even a prospective licensee who receives a negative Preliminary Decision still retains the right to complete all the requirements of the license being sought and submit a complete application for license. If the GREC denies the license application, the applicant has the right to request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge on whether the applicant should be granted a final authority over whether to issue a license. However, if the applicant is able to prove to the Administrative Law Judge his worthiness to have a license, the Commission may be more inclined to issue the license.
